The results of the covid tests carried out after the pilot party at the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza conclude that there was no Covid infection. The event was held on Friday 25 June and brought 1,263 people together, most of whom were essential professionals with the full vaccination schedule and, of this total, 393 underwent a previous antigen test. The data are obtained ten days after the pilot test and after a follow-up carried out on the attendees by the company specialised in health safety in recreational environments – Emergency Staff, who accounted for 31.1 per cent of the total. This follow-up of those who underwent the test consisted of sending an e-mail in which they had to answer if they had experienced any change in their state of health. The results obtained have been satisfactory, reports the association Ocio de Ibiza. In view of the satisfactory results, the organizers issued a reminder that this is a pilot test and not a clinical trial, for this reason, the strictest follow-up has been carried out among the attendees who did not have the double vaccination schedule. From Ocio de Ibiza they consider that this trial shows that it is safe to open nightclubs, if all health safety protocols are met. “The results show that the pilot test has been a success and that safe leisure can be enjoyed. We have shown that this is the way forward to finally open the regulated leisure offer and so that people can be monitored in the event of an outbreak, as opposed to what we are seeing in illegal parties, where attendees cannot be identified and also become real sources of contagion,” explains José Luis Benítez, manager of the association. Thus, Benitez is hopeful for the opening of leisure on July 26, as announced by the Govern. “Our goal is to meet the conditions required by the Government and will have our support. We know that regulated leisure will always be safer than illegal parties and botellones,” he adds. The manager also takes the opportunity to call on the population to participate in the vaccination process because “it is shown that the severity of the cases is lower among the vaccinated population and the effects are also small. For reasons of responsibility and general interest, it is important that the majority of the population is vaccinated”, he concludes. The pilot test was promoted by the Asociación Ocio de Ibiza in collaboration with Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza and with the authorization of the Govern. Among the conditions agreed were the obligation to wear a mask throughout the event, which could only be removed for drinking, and the requirement to limit bar and dance area spaces. Also, all attendees were required to notify before entering the venue whether they were vaccinated, had a negative PCR or had recovered previously from Coronavirus. Guests who did not meet any of these three requirements were tested for antigens at an antigen test site at the hotel.
