28% of the nearly 36 million airport travelers in Spain were affected by flight delays this summer, two percentage points less than in 2022, although still far from the 75% punctuality rate of 2019, according to data provided by AirHelp. Of the more than 10 million passengers affected, most of those were between 15 minutes and three hours without the right to financial compensation.
Monthly air traffic
July, with 85,000 flights, was the preferred month by passengers, with 13 million users. June ranks second with 78,000 routes and 12 million travelers and recorded 10,000 flights and two million more users than in the 2022 data. August is no longer the month with the highest number of flightsdespite the fact that it is the most holiday month with the most tourists and was the third in terms of number of operations this summer.
AirHelp reminds us that when a flight is cancelled airlines must provide an alternative routethe passenger may refuse if he/she does not wish to continue his/her trip and ask for a full refund of the ticket, in addition to the company assuming the extra costs caused by the interruption of the flight with up to 600 euros.
