Las Dalias street market in Sant Carles is set to introduce a new telematic control system for managing its 400 paid parking spaces, necessitating online booking in advance. This is part of a comprehensive mobility study by Gradual Ingenieros, aimed at legalising access and parking on land adjacent to the market. The Balearic Environment Commission has approved the environmental impact statement for this project, which hinges on fulfilling certain conditions, including those outlined in the mobility study. Roger Torregrosa, an engineer, explains the plan aims to limit the market’s capacity and implement control tools to prevent vehicle oversaturation in the surrounding area. The plan, crucial for addressing traffic flow issues noted by the Environmental Commission in 2019, also includes the provision of discretionary public transport and the extension of market hours to distribute visitor influx throughout the week. The maximum capacity of the market is set at 2,000 people per peak hour, with up to 10,000 visitors throughout a day.
