The Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) has granted Igy Gestora Marinas Spain SL a definitive concession to manage a marina for large yachts at the Levante dock in Ibiza’s port, alongside a service building. This follows a temporary management phase since June 2022, during which the company was hindered from executing its project plans, notably resorting to a generator for power supply due to these constraints. The new eight-year and five-month concession covers 42,152 square meters, including water and land areas, and permits commercial use of the ground floor of the Hammer building. Additionally, the concession stipulates that Igy cannot connect to the municipal sewage system, requiring sewage disposal via tanker trucks, and mandates a proposal for minimizing the visual impact of grid connections. This decision follows approvals from various regulatory bodies and dismisses opposition from the Instituto de Estudios Portuarios, Marítimos y Costeros, affirming that the Ibiza Town Council, not the APB, has the authority to approve the Special Plan for the port.
