Alfredo Larmón, along with friends Andjela and Pere Planells, joined a guided tour of the Museu d’Art Contemporani d’Eivissa (MACE) driven by their curiosity and a desire to explore the artistic and archaeological treasures within. The tour coincided with the celebration of European Friends of Museums Day. MACE’s director, Elena Ruiz Sastre, shared interesting details about the artist Joana Vasconcelos, whose work ‘Valkyrie Crown’ was on display. She highlighted Vasconcelos’s unconventional career, including a stint in nightclub security, and her desire for her creations to interact with their exhibition spaces. The tour continued with archaeologist Ángeles Martín, who explained the archaeological site beneath MACE, showcasing structures from various historical periods, including Phoenician, Punic, Roman, and Islamic. Attendees were particularly intrigued by the Islamic period burials. Martín also presented a showcase of archaeological finds, including animal bones, ceramics, and mollusks used for dye extraction.
