In a remarkably short period, the 10K Ibiza-Platja d’en Bossa has rapidly established itself as a premier road race in Spain. This is evidenced by its ranking in the annual assessment by World Athletics, the leading authority in global track and field. Following the 2023 event, the race held in Ibiza proudly occupies the seventh spot in the rankings with a score of 9,410 points. This achievement underscores its swift ascent and widespread popularity in the running community, as noted by the organizers, Club Atletismo Ibiza. The ranking encompasses events ranging from 10K to Half Marathons and is based on various criteria, including competitive performance, athlete caliber, participation levels, and other significant results. Within just three years, the Ibiza 10K has emerged as a top contender and one of Spain’s fastest races, largely due to its flat course. The organizers highlight the course’s notable features, such as the extended straight sections at sea level, traversing the Ses Salines Natural Park and the tourist hotspot of Platja d’en Bossa. Impressive race records set by Kenyans Benson Kiplangat (27:18) and Caroline Nyaga (30:48) are testament to the race’s caliber. Additionally, the event boasts the second-fastest Spanish 10K time ever, a record set by Adel Mechaal (27:50) in January 2022. The 4th edition of the race is scheduled for Sunday, 28 January 2024. It will continue to attract elite athletes while also maintaining a vibrant atmosphere for amateur runners.
