Marc Tur has returned to competition in style after his spectacular participation in the Tokyo Games, where his thrilling performance in the 50km race went around the world after finishing fourth. After a few months of rest and returning to work, the athlete from Ibiza won his first Espada Toledana yesterday in the 33rd edition of the prestigious 5km race in the Castilian capital of La Mancha. The athlete of the Peña Deportiva made his intentions clear to consolidate his position as the benchmark of Spanish race walking by winning in Toledo, with a time of 19 minutes and 24 seconds, ahead of Alberto Amezcua and Jose Manuel Perez, both of them from the club Juventud Guadix. In the men’s race 50 walkers took part. “I’m thrilled to have won for the first time the mythical Espada Toledana race. Very close to my personal best in the 5km (19’23”) in the first competition of the season. Let’s go for more!”, said the walker from Santa Eulària after achieving the first victory of the new season.
