Solomun
The Journey of the King of Ibiza
Born in Bosnia and raised in Hamburg, Mladen Solomun did not take a traditional path to global superstardom. Before dominating the world's most prestigious stages, he worked on construction sites for his father and spent five years running a small film production company. His musical awakening came through hip-hop, soul, and funk tapes brought to him by his cousin, leading him to buy his first vinyl records and play his first gigs at a youth center at age 16.
The Birth of Diynamic and the "Do It Yourself" Ethos
In 2006, Solomun co-founded Diynamic Music with his partner Adriano Trolio. Built on the "Do It Yourself" (DIY) motto, the label became a launchpad for artists like Adriatique, H.O.S.H., and Stimming. Solomun's own production style—characterized by deep, ultra-funky basslines and euphoric melodies—shot him to the top of the charts, particularly after his 2012 "DJ of the Year" win by Mixmag.
Redefining Ibiza: The Legend of Solomun +1
Solomun’s relationship with Ibiza changed forever in 2013 with the launch of Solomun +1 at Pacha Ibiza. The concept was revolutionary in its simplicity: Solomun invites only one guest per night, giving both DJs equal time to shine before an inevitable back-to-back closing set. By physically moving the DJ booth to the center of the room, he dismantled the barrier between the performer and the audience, creating the "center of the universe" for Sunday night clubbing.
Cultural Icon and 2026 Outlook
Beyond the club, Solomun has cemented his place in pop culture, famously appearing as a resident DJ in Grand Theft Auto Online's "After Hours" DLC. For the 2026 season, his Solomun +1 residency at Pacha returns from May 31 to October 4, continuing his legacy of marathon sets and story-led musical journeys.
