The parish church of Sant Rafel is hosting a ceremony in which the Reverend Adrian Green will be installed as the new Chaplain of the English-speaking Church in Ibiza and Formentera. The service will be conducted by David Waller and Green will be accompanied by his wife Linda, who will do one of the Bible readings, and their son Ben. They also have four other children and three grandchildren, living in Northern Ireland and England, who are unable to attend due to covid restrictions.

Two Years Without a Minister
The church has been without a minister for two and a half years. And in the Anglican church’s seemingly impossible search, Green appeared. “We seem to have found a keen sportsman and a brilliant preacher,” a council member said at the time after seeing a video on social media of Green jumping off a cliff. Given the covid restrictions, the so-called ‘English-speaking church’ now meets on Sundays at 10am in the grounds of the Can Truy restaurant. The service is also broadcast live on Zoom. The congregation “hopes to return to other churches on both islands in the very near future,” they said. The church also has an online presence. The website is currently being revamped, but there is a presence on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin and YouTube pages. www.linktr.ee/ibizachurch.
