Ocio de Ibiza expects long awaited nightclub ‘openings’ to draw 30,000 people

Pacha, Ushuaïa Ibiza, Hï Ibiza, Es Paradis and Amnesia nightclubs have sold out the pre-sale tickets for their ‘openings’, so there is only 10% left to buy at the box office on the same day of the party. According to Benítez, prices range between 30 and 80 euros and forecasts indicate that “some 30,000 people will probably pass through the clubs this weekend”. The average capacity of each venue is around 5,000 people: around 3,000 at Pacha, 7,000 at Ushuaïa and some 5,000 at Hï, Amnesia and Es Paradis. “There is a lot of optimism, but no longer only at the leisure level. If we are open it is because things are going well worldwide”, reiterates Benítez. On the origin of the attendees, the manager of the Association says that “there has been a significant increase in Spaniards” for the opening parties compared to the same parties of previous years.

Nightclub Staff

In spite of the problems that the different sectors are encountering when hiring professionals, the manager of the Association affirms that the staff for the opening parties of the nightclubs are complete. “We have moved some workers from other premises, recontracting them so that they can lend a hand,” he explains. However, he points out that the problem will come in the next few weeks. “People are always interested in coming to work and then they back out because they are not compensated,” he adds. Benítez mainly refers to the high cost of living on the island to which the high price of rent must be added, which is even more notable this year. “And the salaries in leisure are interesting ,” he says.
