Ibiza is a safe island. But that does not mean anything goes. Many of the incidents that make headlines come from one thing: bad behaviour. Not from locals, not from the island itself, but from tourists who forget common sense the moment they land.
If you would not do it at home, do not do it in Ibiza. This is not just for the sake of residents, but for your own safety.
Ibiza is safe until you act recklessly
You are not in danger walking around Ibiza, even at night. Crime rates are low, violent crimes are rare, and there is strong police presence. But all of that means nothing if you ignore basic safety rules.

Falling off a cliff after drinking, crashing a scooter because you were high, or ending up in a hospital after taking unknown pills, none of that has to do with the island. It is about poor decisions.
Drink responsibly or face the consequences
Yes, Ibiza is known for its nightlife. That does not mean you need to drink all the alcohol on Earth. Alcohol-related accidents are the most common issues for tourists. Falling, choking, getting robbed, or ending up in the ER (Emergency Room), it often starts with one drink too many.
Drink a beer. Enjoy a cocktail. But if you lose control, you lose everything.
Drugs are illegal. Ibiza is not an excuse
What you do in Ibiza still has consequences. Drugs are illegal, and Ibiza is not a free zone. Tourists caught with illegal substances are arrested and fined. More than that, street drugs are dangerous, often mixed with unknown chemicals that can kill you.
Do not risk your life for one night of ‘fun’.

Do not drive drunk. Not here. Not anywhere
Every year, tourists die or seriously injure themselves in car or scooter crashes in Ibiza. Most of the time, the cause is simple: drunk driving.
Ibiza has narrow, poorly lit roads and many curves. It is not a place where you can afford mistakes. If you are going to drink, do not drive. Use a taxi or designated driver. The fine is nothing compared to what it could cost you.
Cliffs are not selfie spots and balconies are not playgrounds
Ibiza’s coastline is stunning, but dangerous if you do not know where you are going. Someone who is not familiar with the area can fall off easily from cliffs while trying to take photos, or while walking too close to the edge, especially after drinking alcohol.
The same goes for hotel balconies. Jumping between rooms or sitting on railings is not brave, it is stupid. If you want to visit a friend in the next room, use the door. You are not in a movie. You are metres above the ground, and one wrong move can end your holiday in A&E (Accident & Emergency) or worse…

Think twice before leaving valuables on the beach
Petty theft exists in Ibiza, like in any tourist area. Thieves often target people who leave phones, wallets, or bags unattended at the beach or in bars.
Keep only what you need. Use a hotel safe. Do not assume ‘it will not happen to me’. That is what everyone says, until it does.
Respect the island or do not come
Ibiza is not just a party spot, it is home to thousands of people who live and work here all year round. Playing loud music in a quiet neighbourhood, urinating in the street, littering on beaches, or shouting all night is not ‘fun’. It is disrespectful.
If you would not do it in your hometown, do not do it here.

You are responsible for your own safety
Ibiza is not dangerous. But your decisions can be. The island does not need more tourists who think they are above the rules. It needs respectful visitors who know how to have fun without putting themselves, or others, at risk.
So if you are coming to Ibiza:
- Do not drink until you lose control.
- Do not take drugs.
- Do not drive if you are not sober.
- Do not climb cliffs or jump off balconies.
- Do not leave your valuables unguarded.
- Do not behave like the island is yours.
Simple. Clear. Non-negotiable.
Plan your trip, not your trip to A&E
Respect the island. Respect the locals. Respect yourself. That is how you have a great holiday and make it back home.
- Share this with your travel group. Make sure everyone’s on the same page before they step on the plane.
- Ready to explore Ibiza? Do it the right way. Do it safely.
