The Mayors Council of Ibiza agrees to expand the island's industrial land by 44%

The Consell de Alcaldes agreed yesterday to expand the area reserved for industrial use in Ibiza by 44%. At the previous meeting, last April, the five mayors and the island president, Vicent Marí, agreed that, given the demand by entrepreneurs for more industrial land because what is currently available is insufficient and expensive, they would look for areas, adjacent to the industrial estates, to create more availability.

Thus, meeting yesterday at the Santa Eulària Town Hall, the representatives of the Consell de Alcaldes pledged to extend the 190 hectares of existing (or planned) industrial use currently in Ibiza with an additional 84 hectares (44%): 67 hectares in Santa Eulària and 18 in Sant Josep. There are also plans to extend a small strip, next to the car park of es Gorg, in Vila. In the case of Santa Eulària (see attached plan), a strip between the camí de l’Horta, which connects the avenida Vuit d’Agost with Jesús, and the Eurocentro industrial estate, adjacent to the first ring road, is planned to be classified as industrial land. The largest extension of new industrial land would be that of the Can Bufí industrial estate as far as the old barracks sa Coma and which would cover both sides of the Sant Antoni motorway. Also in Santa Eulària, it is planned to join the industrial estate of Ca na Palava with the small industrial area located on the Santa Eulària road, where the Ca na Negreta waste management warehouse is located.

Sant Jordi and Cala de Bou

In Sant Josep, the extension of the Sant Jordi industrial estate is planned, joining the rectangular strip parallel to the motorway, which at one end reaches the Sant Jordi roundabout, with the larger area closest to the aerodrome. In addition, a small area is planned in the area of  Cala de Bou, between Avenida de Sant Agustí and Calle Jaén, where there is a bus depot and several workshops.
