‘From Ibiza to the NBA’ is not just the topic of discussion with Lorena Torres Ronda, but also the example that with consistancy and determination, it is possible to reach the top. On Thursday, at 8:00 p.m., Lorena Torres will tell the Club Diario de Ibiza the steps it took since she began to practice various sports in Eivissa until she reached the NBA. Javier Bonet, insular director of Sports, whom she has known for many years, will be in charge of the presentation. Journalist Paco Murillo will also engage her in a discussion she will reveal how an Ibizan woman is now working in the most important basketball league in the world. Basketball and synchronized swimming
Always linked to sports, she graduated from INEF Physical Activity and Sports Sciences in Barcelona, and also studied several master’s degrees in different countries. In her professional beginnings she worked in the Sant Cugat High Performance Center with various sports disciplines, as well as in the Barcelona basketball sqad. In 2013 she also worked with the Spanish synchronized swimming team, where she made a custom physical plan for the swimmers, among which was Ona Carbonell. Today, Lorena Torres Ronda is a sports scientist, a high-performance specialist whose commitment and knowledge have led her to the NBA, the best basketball league in the world, in 2015. In the United States she has worked with the San Antonio Spurs in which she worked for four seasons as coordinator of the sports science department. After this experience, she enlisted with the Philadelphia Sixers, where last season she was the head of the performance department.
