A good month of October has closed one of the most anomalous tourist seasons in the Pitiusas Islands in recent memory. With only between 40% to 50% of the hotels open, the Pitiusa Employers’ Association has managed to sell an average of six out of ten of the vacancies that were offered in the last month, just five points less than during the same period two years ago, before covid. Considering the 2020 results, these data are very well received by hoteliers.
The month of October “has been even better than September”
The president of the employers’ association, Ana Gordillo, highlights that it is “surprising” that October “has been even better than September”, and with respect to the whole season recalls that this year’s season started late, but has ended “better than first expected”. In addition, Gordillo confirms that in September, as in July and August, seven out of ten hotels were open, and last October just half. “With fewer open, the occupancy has been higher,” she notes as a possible cause of this rise in occupancy.
