According to the Consell de Ibiza in a press release, so far this year the following cases have been interposed 178 complaints and 341,217 euros have been collected in penalties for illegal transport, “which demonstrates the good pace of work that has been carried out by the department over the past few months. “Our efforts,” adds the conseller, “are directed in the fight against illegal activities and in combating intrusiveness in a forceful way.”
More collection than ever
With this pace of inspections and sanctions, Juan is confident that the collection at the end of the year exceeds the overall last year (363,268 euros), “which was already the highest in the history of the Consell,” he adds. Juan has thanked the work of the inspectors of Transport and the Usecico of the Civil Guard (Lince Team), “which has been a fundamental help for the Consell de Ibiza and to achieve these data,” he says.
Regarding the origin of the immobilized vehicles, the Consell adds that most of them are individuals who acted as ‘pirate cab’ or irregular VTC. “The cars that were used as pirate cab and that belonged to the car rental, have been returned to the companies with immediacy once the contract with the alleged offender is finished in order not to harm these establishments that should not suffer the consequences of the criminal activities of those who rent a car to use it for illegalities”, details the note. To date, 132 inspections have been carried out: 86 at Ibiza airport, 31 at the port and 14 in leisure establishments.
