Ibiza either draws you in or pushes you away. The island doesn’t do things halfway. Ilaria Iozzi (also known as La chica de Ibiza) was fortunate — fifteen years ago, she fell in love with Ibiza, and the island loved her back. Since then, she has returned every summer to a place that has become her home.

Born in Naples, Ilaria studied Communication, Media, and Advertising at IULM University in Milan. She worked for nearly a decade as the Social Media Manager for Inter Milan before deciding it was time for a change. She then embarked on a freelance career.

In winter, she resides in Milan, but in summer, she swaps the Duomo for Dalt Vila. In 2020, she decided to turn her passion for Ibiza into a profession. As a social media expert, she launched the Instagram account La Chica de Ibiza. Before long, the profile began to grow, and today it boasts over 140,000 followers. What’s the secret? She reveals it in this interview, where she also discusses her collaboration with Living Ibiza, Diario de Ibiza’s new website designed for those eager to discover everything the island has to offer.

How did ‘La Chica de Ibiza’ start?

La chica de Ibiza project was born in 2020 out of my passion for the island. The first time I visited Ibiza, I was 18 years old. Since then, I’ve been coming back every summer. Four years ago, I thought to myself, “I’m a Social Media Manager, I work with social networks — why not do something with the island on social media too?” And that’s how it started.

At the beginning, the account wasn’t as structured as it is now, nor did it have the same reach. But with the rise of reels and the large volume of content I was publishing, it started to grow significantly. Now, I have over 140,000 followers, making it one of the most followed accounts on the island. Through La Chica de Ibiza, I collaborate and do exchanges, but the main goal is not to make money — it’s to show the island as I experience it, sharing what I truly love. In my posts, followers will only see places and experiences that I genuinely enjoy and visit, as they’re part of my real life in the island.

What makes ‘La Chica de Ibiza’ stand out from similar accounts and attract so many followers?

I believe I have a special focus on the content. When people see it, they can tell whether they like it or not, but it’s transparent — it’s exactly as it is. The content aligns with my message, meaning I only showcase places or experiences that I genuinely like. People are drawn to that lifestyle, so they’re also drawn to what I do and what I share.

How do you choose your clients?

There’s a filter, because as I said earlier, my goal is always to be authentic. I’m not here just to make money or get a free dinner. I want to show what I genuinely experience. That’s why I collaborate with places I’ve been going to for many years, even before La Chica de Ibiza. Of course, it has now become part of my job, and sometimes it provides financial returns. But the essence remains real, as I had already tried those places or would continue to go there, even if it weren’t part of my work. I would never recommend something I hadn’t personally experienced.

What captivated you about Ibiza?

The island has an incredible magic. The nature, the weather, the people, the warmth, the energy… I don’t know if it’s Es Vedrà that radiates all that energy [she laughs], but from the moment you arrive at the airport and step off the plane, you can feel it. It’s something you can’t explain. It captivated me from the start. I also love Formentera, but Ibiza has something magical and different.

If you had to choose just one place in Ibiza, what would it be?

Marina Ibiza. The views from there towards Dalt Vila are spectacular. For me, they’re like an obsession — I can’t stop looking. They’re magnetic.

Why did you start collaborating with Living Ibiza?

It was a decision based on coherence since we genuinely share the same goal: to showcase the island and its lifestyle. That’s why I was interested in the project. It’s something new, and I love collaborating with local entities like Diario de Ibiza. For me, it’s an honour to be part of a project like Living Ibiza. We create a mix of content: articles on the website, as well as Instagram posts and reels made in collaboration with La Chica de Ibiza’s account.

How would you explain Living Ibiza to your followers or friends?

Through the Living Ibiza website and its social media, you can find absolutely everything about Ibiza: clubs, beaches, villages, restaurants, hotels, experiences… All the information is in one place. It’s extremely useful because people want to know where to go or what to see before they arrive. I also get asked on Instagram for recommendations, like where to watch the sunset or if a certain restaurant is still open. Living Ibiza has absolutely everything you need to know. On top of that, the quality of the content is outstanding, and it’s available in English.

In your experience, what are people currently looking for or interested in when it comes to Ibiza?

Different experiences. New restaurants, traditional food, hidden spots, places that aren’t too overcrowded… In general, people are looking for something new.
