Without expecting it, Montoya, the young man from Seville has become an internet sensation, turning into a viral meme thanks to his over-the-top reactions in La isla de las tentaciones (Temptation Island). His fame has spread so far that even Whoopi Goldberg mentioned him on the American talk show The View.
The phrase “Montoya, por favor” (“Montoya, please”)—spoken by host Sandra Barneda as he dramatically sprinted down the beach upon seeing his girlfriend, Anita, in bed with Manuel, her favourite tempter—has now reached iconic status.
“With my brazilian curves, I can enchant anyone”
As is often the case, many contestants on the show had already experienced a different island of temptations before heading to the Dominican Republic: Ibiza. And this season’s cast is no exception. From the very beginning, it was clear that one of the tempters had ties to Ibiza—Raquel Castro Neves, a Brazilian lawyer and model who has been living on the island for some time.
Introducing herself in the show’s promo, she declared: “With my Brazilian curves, I can enchant anyone”, while wearing an eye-catching orange bikini. At 32 years old, she describes herself on social media as an artist, fitness model, and writer. In fact, she has a profile on the Readme platform, where she claims to write science fiction novels and has published one titled Os sete.
Contestants and tempters in Ibiza
But Raquel isn’t the only one familiar with Ibiza. The central figure of this season, Montoya, may not have Ibiza photos on his social media, but his (now ex) girlfriend, Anita Williams, certainly does. She has visited Ibiza multiple times, documenting her trips with characteristic flair—posing in bikinis or wearing very little.
Anita, who spent time on the island in 2020, 2019, and 2018, has shared images of herself in a villa in Talamanca, wrapped in a towel by the pool of a Cap Martinet hotel, captioning it: “I prefer paradise for the weather, but hell for the company”. Of course, no Ibiza visit would be complete without a yacht trip to Formentera—“Here at sea, discovering the sweet side of salt”, she wrote—along with stops at Cala Nova.
Another contestant with Ibiza connections is Sthefany, the Cuban participant who arrived in the Dominican Republic with her boyfriend Tadeo. A few years ago, she was in the island, where she posed in a striking neon yellow outfit in front of the unmistakable skyline of Dalt Vila.
Andrea, who has gained attention this week for her struggles in the villa and the lack of empathy from her housemates—a situation many viewers sympathise with—also knows the island well. She visited in June 2021, posing in a swimsuit on a yacht. However, in 2018, she had a more relaxed holiday with friends, sharing spontaneous moments from iconic spots like Ushuaïa and the now-closed Space.
The tempter and Montoya’s rival
One of the contestants with the strongest ties to the Balearic island is Simone, the Italian tempter who has returned to the show for a third time. His mission? To shake up Tadeo and Sthefany’s relationship, as he had already done during a previous break in their romance. His pinned Instagram post is a love letter to Ibiza, showcasing photos taken in luxury pools, hotels, jet skis, and various restaurants.
As for Montoya, there’s no confirmation he’s ever been to the Mediterranean island, but the woman he cheated on Anita with—Gabriella—certainly has. In 2023, she visited the island and shared a picture of herself inside a car, captioning it: “I love hashtags because they look like waffles.”
And the Ibiza connections don’t stop there. Manuel, the tempter who won Anita’s heart, is also a frequent visitor. His 2023 trip is documented through numerous posts and a reel summarising his holiday—fine dining, yacht parties, nightclubs, sunsets, restaurants, beaches, markets, and, of course, more partying. He wasn’t alone either, as fellow contestants Simone and Hugo joined him for the adventure.
Torres’ birthday celebration
Another contestant with a deep love for the Balearics is Torres, known for his time on Survivor and his romance with Mallorcan contestant Bayan. His most recent birthday was celebrated in the Pitiusas islands, packed with everything you’d expect—parties, peaceful moments in old fisherman’s cottages, a visit to Cap Barbaria lighthouse, and more parties. He even blew out the candles on his 32nd birthday cake in Ibiza.
But this wasn’t his first time on the island. He previously visited in 2017, and his Instagram timeline wouldn’t be complete without the classic Ibiza shot—posing with the legendary rock formation of Es Vedrà in the background.
