Ibiza transforms into a festive wonderland this Christmas season, with an exciting programme of activities for locals and visitors alike.
Starting on Saturday, 30th November, the city’s Christmas celebrations will light up the streets, bringing joy to every corner of the island.
Kick-off with lights and videomapping
The festivities officially begin on Saturday at 6:00 PM with the much-anticipated Christmas lights switch-on, accompanied by a spectacular videomapping show at the iconic Portal de ses Taules, one of the accesses to the old town of Dalt Vila.
The visual display will run three times, at 6:00 PM, 6:45 PM, and 7:30 PM.
Santa Claus parades and the return of the Wise Men’s adoration
For the first time, Santa Claus and his magical entourage will parade through the city on 23rd and 24th December, starting at 11:00 AM from the port and ending at Vara de Rey.
On 5th January, during the traditional Epiphany parade, the Wise Men will revive the cherished tradition of adoration at the Roser Church.
Christmas market and other highlights in Vara de Rey
The Christmas Market at Vara de Rey will run from 25th November to 6th January, open daily from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with shorter hours on 24th and 31st December.
A beautifully crafted nativity scene will also be displayed at Sant Elm Church from 8th December to 7th January, open Tuesday to Saturday.
Interactive photo opportunities
Visitors can capture the magic of the season with themed photo booths scattered across the city. Giant characters will roam Vara de Rey every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening, while a festive balloon photo spot will travel to different neighbourhoods from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Weekend fun for families
Every weekend in December, Vara de Rey will host bouncy castles and festive activities. Children can also visit Santa’s Office at the ‘07800 Pavilion’ to drop off their letters.
Special events and performances
- 6th December: celebrate Constitution Day with creative workshops for children and the opening of the Eivicadabra Magic Festival.
- 14th December: from storytelling to a Santa’s Band parade, enjoy a day packed with festive fun, culminating in the ‘A Christmas for Everyone’ festival at Julià Verdera Square.
- 20th and 21st December: the second edition of ‘A Christmas for Everyone’ takes over Antoni Albert i Nieto Square and the football field in Playa d’en Bossa.
Santa Claus arrives in Ibiza
On 23rd and 24th December, Santa Claus arrives at Ibiza’s port and parades through the city streets before settling at Vara de Rey to meet children and collect their letters.
New Year’s Eve celebrations
Ibiza Town bids farewell to 2024 with a day full of events. On 30th December, creative workshops take place in Vara de Rey, while family-friendly celebrations, including an early countdown, occur at Plaza del Parque.
On New Year’s Eve, the festivities begin with concerts, a traditional race up to the Cathedral, and a grand celebration at Vara de Rey starting at 10:30 PM. The countdown to midnight will be accompanied by performances from La Movida, Petit & Vázquez, Lugotti, and dance groups.
Start 2025 with a splash
Kick off the New Year with a refreshing dip in the sea at ses Figueretes Beach at noon on 1st January, followed by a warm cup of hot chocolate to start the year right.
