A celebration of heritage and community

The Santa Agnès de Corona festivities revolve around local traditions, gastronomy, and the sense of togetherness that characterises this small Ibizan community. Far removed from the island’s vibrant summer parties, this is a time when the locals open their doors to visitors, inviting them to experience Ibiza as it has been for centuries.

One of the highlights is the Festa de sa Sitja, a celebration of Ibiza’s agricultural heritage. Over three days, this event showcases traditional farming methods, classic tools, and vintage machinery used for making lime, charcoal, and pitch. The centrepiece is the lighting of the sitja, or charcoal pile, an ancient technique that has been preserved and celebrated. Held on 21 February, this event is accompanied by music, folk dancing, and tastings of sobrasada and local wine. It’s an experience that transports visitors back in time to Ibiza’s rural past.
