Starting point and initial section of the hiking route

The walk begins at the car park next to Chiringuito El Puerto Portinatx. The starting point is easy to identify and provides direct access to the trail. With your back to the sea, take the path that appears on the left side.

The route starts with a coastal section of approximately one and a half kilometres. The path follows the line of the cliffs and offers uninterrupted views of the northern coastline of Ibiza. The terrain is generally firm, with gentle undulations, and does not require technical skills. Along this stretch, the sea remains visible at all times, making it useful for orientation.

Moscarter lighthouse: key information

After the first stretch, the route reaches the Moscarter lighthouse. This lighthouse is a notable point of interest for several reasons:

  • Height: the tower rises 52 metres to the focal plane.
  • Total elevation: because it is built on a cliff, the light reaches 93 metres above sea level.
  • Design: the tower displays black-and-white helical stripes, which make it easily recognisable.
  • Status: it is the tallest lighthouse tower in the Balearic Islands.
  • Year of operation: the lighthouse entered service on 1 November 1978.

The area around the lighthouse offers wide views of the coastline and open sea. It is a practical stop for photographs and a short rest before continuing.

Continuing along the coast to Cala d’en Serra

After passing the lighthouse, the trail continues along the coastline for approximately two kilometres. The path maintains similar characteristics to the first section: clear views, moderate terrain and no technical complexity. The coastline here includes rocky coves and pine-covered slopes.

Around one hundred metres before reaching Cala d’en Serra, the route leaves the coast. On the right side, you will see a paved road marked as Camí Cala d’en Serra. This is the point where the route turns inland.

Inland Section: Camí Cala d’en Serra and Calle Cala d’en Serra

Once on Camí Cala d’en Serra, continue walking for approximately one kilometre. This section differs from the coastal stretch: the terrain is more sheltered, and the surroundings include pine forest and residential areas.

At the end of this kilometre, you will reach a junction. To the right is Calle Cala d’en Serra, and to the left is the old road to Portinatx. Turn right onto Cala d’en Serra Street.

Follow this road for about one kilometre. The route is linear and easy to follow. Traffic is minimal, and the road is paved throughout.

Final stretch back to the starting point

After one kilometre on Cala d’en Serra Street, turn right onto Vénda de Portinatx. This final section measures approximately five hundred metres and leads directly back to the starting point next to Chiringuito El Puerto Portinatx.

Once you reach the car park, the circular route is complete.
