You have probably seen it on social media or heard about it from someone who just got back from Ibiza: Chinois. A club known for its music, its atmosphere, and now, for a campaign that puts people, not perfection, at the centre.
If you are travelling to Ibiza this summer, here is why ‘We Are Chinois‘ should be on your radar. This is not just another marketing campaign. It is a clever, inclusive idea that captures what nightlife on the island is really about: enjoying yourself, connecting with others, and not taking things too seriously.
‘We Are Chinois’: the campaign that turns a common question into a shared experience
The starting point is simple: a lot of people do not know how to pronounce ‘Chinois’. Is it ‘Chin-woz’? ‘Sheen-waz’? Something else entirely? Instead of correcting people, the team behind Chinois decided to do the opposite, celebrate the confusion.
The result is a series of short videos featuring over 30 people from Ibiza, each saying ‘Chinois”’ in their own way. Locals, workers, DJs, visitors… all giving it a try, laughing at themselves and proving that pronunciation is the last thing that matters when you are having a good time.
The campaign tagline says it clearly: ‘We Are Chinois. However you say it, this is your club‘.
Why this matters to Ibiza tourists
There are plenty of clubs in Ibiza, and many of them focus on exclusivity and image. Chinois takes a different approach. It is stylish and high-quality, yes, but its new campaign shows that it is also relaxed, welcoming and people-focused.
If you are visiting the island, this is good news. You do not need to be a regular, speak perfect Spanish or know someone on the guest list. Chinois is making it clear: whether you are here for a night or a month, you are welcome.
And more importantly, you are part of what makes the place special. This is not a club that exists for influencers or VIPs, it exists for the community that builds it night after night.
The people behind the idea
The campaign was created by William Worrell, Chinois’ Creative Lead, together with Sharon Simonetta, the club’s Global Director of Marketing & Communications. Their goal was not to show off the venue, it was to show the people who give it life.
Worrell explains: “Ibiza is a global destination, full of different cultures and languages. Many people were asking how to say the name. Instead of giving one answer, we turned it into a question that everyone could answer in their own way”.
Simonetta adds: “We wanted to remind people that clubs are about connection. It is one of the few places where differences do not matter. You can just be yourself. And that is exactly the energy we want to share”.
More than just a club
Located in Marina Ibiza, Chinois has become a key name in the island’s nightlife. Known for its strong music programme, international bookings and impressive interior design, it already has the reputation of being one of the must-visit clubs of the summer.
But this campaign shows that it is not just about the show. Chinois is paying attention to what people feel, what they laugh about, and what they remember once the night is over.
What is next?
The ‘We Are Chinois’ campaign is ongoing. New videos will continue to appear across the club’s social media channels throughout the summer. Some will feature regulars, others will show the staff behind the bar or the team behind the scenes.
If you are planning a trip to Ibiza and end up at Chinois, you might even be part of the next video.
