Children of the 80’s returns to Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza on Friday 16 May with a powerful mix of live music, nostalgia and solidarity.
It will be an unforgettable tribute to a musical legend, and a night dedicated to fighting cancer in the most beautiful way Ibiza knows how, through unity, rhythm and love.
Events calendar1. A tribute that will touch your soul
This season’s opening party is not just another night out. It is a celebration of life and legacy. The event will pay homage to DJ José María Castells, founding member of the legendary Dream Team Megamix, who passed away this winter due to cancer.
Expect an emotional moment when his fellow DJs and lifelong friends Quique Tejada and Toni Peret present a heartfelt video tribute and gift a commemorative plaque to his family. It is not often that a dancefloor falls silent, but this is one of those rare, powerful moments.
A generation danced to his beats. This night, we will dance for him.
2. Live music from legends: Los Secretos take the stage
Headlining the night are Los Secretos, one of the most iconic bands in Spanish pop-rock history. Their timeless melodies and poetic lyrics are the soundtrack of a generation and they are ready to bring their greatest hits, and their hearts, to the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza stage.
From tear-jerking ballads to anthems you cannot help but sing, their performance will transport you back to a time when everything felt simpler, freer and full of dreams.
3. Dance through the decades with La Movida Ibiza
What would an ‘80s party be without neon lights, oversized sunglasses and the greatest dance tracks of the decade? La Movida Ibiza will keep the energy sky-high with DJ sets packed with retro hits that defined a generation. Think Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson and all the glorious guilty pleasures you secretly love.
This is not a party. It is a time machine with a glitter ball.
4. One cause, two heroes: join the fight against cancer
While the music will lift your spirit, the purpose behind the party will touch your heart. This year’s opening night is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for cancer research and support in Ibiza and Formentera.
Two local associations will be present:
- The Elena Torres Association is backing cutting-edge cancer research led by CSIC scientist Priscila Monteiro Kosaka, whose breakthrough tech can detect cancer in its earliest stages via blood analysis.
- Ibiza and Formentera Against Cancer (IFCC) has been supporting local patients for 24 years, from funding treatment travel to equipping the hospital’s oncology unit with new furniture and even a palliative care vehicle.
On this dancefloor, every step is a stand against cancer.
You can support these causes on the night by donating at their stands or purchasing their t-shirts and books. It is an easy way to make your evening out mean something truly special.
5. Free entry for residents and an invitation for everyone
Ibiza residents can enter for free until 9:00pm, making this one of the most inclusive events of the season. Whether you live on the island or are visiting, this is your chance to celebrate, connect and contribute all in one go.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Children of the 80’s at Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza. A decade of colour, music and community spirit has turned this event into one of the island’s most beloved traditions.
