What awaits participants of Vuelta Cicloturista Ibiza Campagnolo
One of the key attractions of the Vuelta Cicloturista Ibiza is the opportunity it provides to discover Ibiza’s diverse landscapes. The race covers two stages, each offering its own distinct challenges and rewards. Participants will cycle past whitewashed villages, verdant pine forests, and some of the island’s most picturesque beaches. The terrain is varied, with rolling hills, short but steep climbs, and long stretches of road that wind through quiet rural areas. There may be no towering mountain passes, but the course is far from easy, with its undulating profile sure to test even seasoned cyclists.
Stage One begins on Saturday, 5th October, at the iconic Paseo Vara de Rey in Ibiza Town. Riders will embark on a 71-kilometre route, taking them west across the island to Sant Antoni. Along the way, they will face a total elevation gain of 1,300 metres, with the toughest section being the timed climb from Cala Vedella, which runs from kilometre 47.5 to kilometre 51. This first stage offers two key points for refreshment, at Sa Caleta (KM 29) and Cala Molí (KM 57), ensuring participants stay energised as they tackle Ibiza’s challenging roads.
On Stage Two, Sunday, 6th October, the race escalates both in distance and difficulty. Starting in Sant Josep, riders will cover 95 kilometres and climb a total of 1,650 metres, finishing at the summit of Can Germà in Sant Antoni. The stage will challenge participants with three timed segments: a climb at sa Cala de Sant Vicent (KM 48.8 to KM 53), another stretch near Sant Miquel (KM 68.2 to KM 69.7), and the final gruelling push up Ses Marrades and Can Germà North (KM 87.8 to KM 95). Riders will also have ample opportunities to refuel, with three designated stops at Sant Carles (KM 33), Sant Joan (KM 55), and Sant Miquel (KM 69.8).
