The weather forecast in Ibiza and Formentera indicates that spring will be warmer than usual, following a mild winter. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) of the Balearic Islands, the new season will begin on Thursday, 20th March, at 10:01 am, lasting 92 days, 17 hours, and 41 minutes, until Saturday, 21st June, at 2:42 am, when summer officially arrives.
As temperatures begin to rise, Ibiza and Formentera are set for a warm spring, with Aemet predicting above-average temperatures and normal levels of rainfall based on the 1991–2020 reference period.
A warm Spring in Ibiza ahead
The weather forecast in Ibiza and Formentera for the upcoming months suggests a warmer-than-usual spring. Aemet anticipates that the average temperature from April to June 2025 will be above 19ºC, the typical seasonal norm.
“Throughout spring in Ibiza, temperatures will gradually increase, reaching their highest levels towards the end of the season. There is also a possibility of heatwaves or extreme heat episodes in June”, Aemet reports.
Rainfall predictions
Despite the rising temperatures, the weather forecast suggests that rainfall will remain within normal levels for the season.
“Typically, Ibiza receives 67 litres per square metre (l/m²) of rainfall in spring, while Formentera averages 48 l/m². Forecasts indicate that precipitation will likely remain close to these values”.
How will Spring in Ibiza and Formentera unfold?
The weather forecast describes a gradual transition from cooler conditions to summer warmth, divided into two distinct phases:
- Early Spring (March–April):
- A mix of stable, high-pressure conditions and storm systems.
- Heavy showers, hail, thunderstorms, strong winds, and occasional cold spells are possible.
- Light frosts may occur in certain areas.
- Late Spring (May–June):
- Temperatures steadily increase as summer approaches.
- The passage of storm systems becomes less frequent.

The forecast also warns of rain mixed with Saharan dust, which could result in muddy rainfall affecting cars and buildings.
Additionally, marine fog may form during periods of stable weather, particularly affecting Ibiza’s coastal areas.

The winter months in the Pityusic Islands has been mild, with an average temperature of 11.8ºC in Ibiza and 13.3ºC in Formentera, both 0.4ºC higher than normal.
- January was the warmest month, recording a +1.4ºC anomaly, with 12ºC in Ibiza and 14ºC in Formentera.
- December was the coldest month, averaging 11.6ºC in Ibiza and 13.1ºC in Formentera, slightly below normal.
- Aemet classifies December as cold, February as mild, and January as very warm.
The highest winter temperatures were recorded on 23rd January, reaching 23.2ºC in Ibiza and 21.2ºC in Formentera.
The coldest temperature of the season was 0.4ºC in Sant Joan de Labritja, recorded on 15th January. In Formentera, the coldest day was 5th February, with a low of 3.8ºC.
The coldest spell occurred from 12th to 19th January, when daytime highs ranged between 12ºC and 16ºC, while night-time temperatures hovered around 0ºC to 2ºC.
A dry winter with no snowfall
The winter season was drier than usual:
- Ibiza recorded 109 l/m² of rainfall, 22% below the seasonal average of 140 l/m².
- Formentera saw 70 l/m², which is 28% lower than the normal 98 l/m².
However, February showed a contrast between the two islands:
- In Ibiza, rainfall levels were within the normal range.
- In Formentera, February was wetter than usual.

The rainiest day of the winter in Ibiza was 31st December, with 38.6 l/m² recorded at the airport. In Formentera, the wettest day was 22nd February, with 11.4 l/m² of rain.
Strong winds persisted
While snowfall is rare, Ibiza typically sees at least one snowy day every three years. However, the weather forecast confirms that no snow fell this winter.
“The last recorded snowfall in Ibiza was in 2023”.
Despite the lack of snow, strong winds were common, with 15 days of strong winds recorded—five fewer than usual for the season.
